Do I need to drill a hole when installing the surface box?

When installing surface boxes, it is usually not necessary to make large holes in the wall. Its design is to avoid being embedded in the wall, so it can be directly fixed on the surface of the wall. The installation process mainly involves fixing the surface box to the wall, usually using screws to connect the box to the wall. Small holes need to be drilled on the wall to install fixing screws, instead of opening a larger hole like traditional sockets to fit into the box or socket.
When the wall is made of hard materials such as concrete or brick walls, it may be necessary to use expansion screws or other specialized fixing tools to ensure that the surface box is securely installed. For wooden walls, ordinary screws can be used. After installing the surface box, wires or data cables are connected to sockets, jacks, and other devices through the openings on the box. Due to its avoidance of wall damage, this installation method is particularly suitable for temporary installations, renting space, or situations where connection points cannot be installed inside the wall.
In general, there is no need to cut the wall when installing the surface box. Only small holes need to be drilled to fix the screws, making it stable on the surface. The installation process is relatively simple and does not damage the wall.
